Glyph of the day: Le Monde Courrier G
-
A typeface is full of glyphs. Its common knowledge to judge a font based on its effect on text, or in particular function or use. Meanwhile, we all love specific glyphs, because their design is very specific to a typeface style and bring the right flavor to a graphic project.
Today, we picked the G from the Le Monde Courrier PTF. This glyph is special because the family is a rounded slab. Generally when we say slab, it mean that serifs should be present on each letters such on the top of the glyph E, or s. In case of Le Monde Courrier PTF designed in 1997, its a bit different, some glyphs don’t feature serif in order to open the counters and add contrast with others letters. The a, G, f are designed like that.
