Jean-Baptiste Levée (b. 1981) persued an education in visual communication at the école Estienne. In 2002 he began studying type design with Franck Jalleau, Michel Derre & Margaret Gray as teachers. His interests then vary from ligature systems and signage-oriented type design, as well as traditionnal printing techniques.

Jean-Baptiste Levée later worked for Le Typophage, under whose direction he developed several corporate fonts, before establishing himself as a freelance designer in 2005. While bringing on his activity as print-oriented graphic designer, he specializes in lettering and logotype design and jointly develops his type designs. Jean-Baptiste Levée joins Porchez Typofonderie in 2006.

Jean-Baptiste is the country delegate for France at ATypI and is copy editor & writer for typographe.com, a collaborative type blog in French & the ATypI France online section.

He also is president of the association Zone Opaque, a fine arts-focused letterpress printshop with digital and traditional abilities.

Jean-Baptiste is, among other subjects, in charge of the font sales at Porchez Typofonderie. If you have any question on this subject, he is the right person to contact.
