Founded in 1994 by Jean François Porchez, Typofonderie is an independent digital type foundry in France, designing, manufacturing and selling high quality typefaces for adventurous digital typographers.
Typographical expertise
Typofonderie propose font licenses with direct downloads from 1999. The today expertise of Typofonderie enables to propose bespoke typefaces as well as distributing new typeface designs. Each year, hundreds of customers from all over the world bought fonts directly through our website typofonderie.com. We’ve sold online more than 3500 font packs over the last ten years, to which you can add the numerous fonts sold by our distributors. The best experience still remain to buy directly: our PTF collection is fully exclusive, font distributors sold only the STD collection. Printed typeface specimens are sent only to direct customers.

Unique and bespoke fonts
The foundry has created numerous bespoke fonts for the Baltimore Sun, Beyoncé Knowles, Costa Crocieres, France Télécom, Le Monde, Louis Vuitton, Peugeot, RATP (Public Transport in Paris). Jean François created the Sabon Next, a revival of the Sabon, a Jan Tschichold revival of Garamond in 2002. Ambroise, Angie, Anisette, Apolline, Costa, Le Monde and Parisine have won prizes in various international typefaces competitions.

Original lettering and logotypes
Letterings and logotypes comprise another part of the work done at Typofonderie, whether that work is completely original or redrawn from designs by other people. Major clients include corporate & packaging agencies, publishing industry or direct clients.

History
This foundry born in Malakoff (France) unofficially circa 1994, and launched his first retails typefaces in 1995 with Apolline, Angie Sans and Anisette. Its the first sales who make the foundry official! The objective of the foundry was to propose the Jean Francois Porchez typefaces in a exclusive way without the help of retails-local distributors. It can be understood as way to control all the sales process and support. Along theses years, some interns, and few people worked internally or externally with Jean Francois Porchez. The foundry location moved to Sèvres (France) in 2006, Typofonderie is now installed in Clamart (France) from the end of 2008.
The website under the URL porcheztypo.com was launched in middle of 1997 in same time as the launch of the big family Le Monde. In 1999, with the launch of the E-commerce with immediate downloads and secure payments, the domain name typofonderie.com started his life and remain the only domain name used today. Until December 2003, the website was never really redesigned completely. This new version of the website is a major step who let us able to manage the content online directly and more easily. It was the only way to propose OpenType families too.
