Apolline Std

Apolline received a Morisawa Award in 1993 (Japan). The objective was mainly to obtain a horizontal emphasis. The asymmetry of serifs reinforce the writing rhythm. The original drawings are very small. They began on tracing paper & were then digitized at larger sizes. ’Roughness’ makes the face more lively. This typeface quite economical because of its large xheight (compared to Adobe Garamond for example), provide a strong color to the printed page. Small caps, old style figures, lining figures were included then.
